EMPLOYMENT RATE HAS NOT EXCEEDED 52 PERCENT FOR 36 YEARSThe employment rate in January of this year was announced as 47.9 percent. In other words, only 31 million 953 thousand of 66 million 680 thousand people over the age of 15 work in our country. However, in 1990, that is, 36 years ago, the employment rate in Turkey was 52.1 percent. More precisely, more than half of those over the age of 15 were participating in production. Let’s come to other countries… The employment rate in Poland is 73.2 percent, 77.3 percent in Germany, 59.3 percent in America and 53.1 percent in Bulgaria. For the last two years, the ratio of investments to GDP has corresponded to approximately 31 percent in our country. Despite this, the lack of increase in employment can be attributed to the 8.8 percent shrinkage of the agricultural sector and the decrease in exports and the increase in imports.
